Noteworthy Findings from the 2025 Survey Results

Overall Compensation Growth is Moderate

  • All organization levels experienced moderate compensation growth in all compensation elements from 2024 to 2025. Executive positions experienced the greatest increase in actual total direct compensation. Growth in bonus awards drove growth in executive compensation.

“Hot” Jobs – Specialties in Demand

  • Among senior and journey level individual contributors in Software Engineering job families, base salaries for Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning and Software Architecture positions are the highest. The specialties surveyed include Mobile App Development, DevOps Engineering, Web Development, Cloud Engineering, Business Functional Analysis, Software Testing and Quality Assurance Engineering.
  • Among senior and journey level individual contributors in Marketing job families, base salaries for Performance Marketing and Direct Marketing positions are the highest. The specialties surveyed include Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, Influencer Marketing, Integrated Marketing, Email/Live Chat Marketing, Audience Development / Growth Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Generalist Marketing and Events Marketing.
  • “Hot Jobs” – roles for which compensation grew materially year over year – include Content, Customer Support, Writing, Video Producing and Data Science.
  • For digital advertising sales positions, individual contributor level positions experienced the strongest year-over-year growth in target and actual total cash compensation. For all organization levels of the advertising salesforce, growth in actual total cash compensation outpaced target total cash compensation.

Use of Geo Differentials

  • Geographic differentials continue to exist for Software Engineer individual contributor positions across the five U.S. regions. However, over the period 2020 – 2025, we observe a trend of flattening of geographic pay differentials.
