The recently published results of the 2023 Croner Animation and Visual Effects Survey shows noteworthy trends in compensation from the past year for animation and visual effects salaries from leading companies in the industry.

Croner’s annual report provides in-depth market data for jobs specific to the producing animation and visual effects. Animation and visual effects companies use the survey results to attract and retain talent.

Highlights from the survey results include:

  • In the United States, compensation grew year-to-year across all compensation elements for production leadership / operations management, individual contributor and support levels. Material growth for support levels was driven by increases in base salary, led by production coordinators and production assistants. Growth for individual contributors was also driven by increases in base salary.  Growth for production leadership / operations management levels was more moderate.
  • In Canada, compensation grew across all compensation elements for production leadership / operations management, individual contributor and support levels. Growth for support positions was driven by material increases in base salary.  Growth for production leadership / operations management and individual contributors was more moderate.
  • Production Coordinator in the U.S. and Character Set-Up / Rigging Technical Director in Canada are the pipeline positions with the most growth in base salary from 2022 to 2023.
