Some of the noteworthy findings from the recent report include:

  • Compensation for digital jobs experienced steady growth in pay year-over-year, continuing a multi-year trend. Compensation growth for executives was strong for bonuses and long-term incentive compensation.  Growth for middle managers and individual contributors was driven by strong long-term incentives.  Support positions experienced strong base salary growth.
  • Among senior level individual contributors in Software Engineering job families, base salaries for Software Architecture positions are highest — out of specialties including Mobile App Development, DevOps Engineering, Release Engineering, Web Development, Quality Assurance Engineering, Business Functional Analysis and Software Testing.
  • Among companies with Software Engineers in positions with Machine Learning responsibility and without Machine Learning responsibility, average base salaries tend to be higher for those responsible for Machine Learning.
  • Among senior level individual contributors in Marketing job families, base salaries of Integrated Marketing positions are highest – out of specialties including Product Marketing, Direct Marketing, Brand Marketing, Email Marketing, Events Marketing and Generalist Marketing.
  • All levels of Digital Advertising Sales positions experienced growth in actual total cash compensation year-over-year. Total cash compensation is the sum of base salary plus bonuses.
